We offer walk-in urgent care appointments. Please call our office to discuss your emergency and help us prepare for your arrival.

Should you need urgent assistance after normal office hours, please go directly to your nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1.

What Constitutes An Eye Emergency?

We know your sight is vital, and we take threats to your vision seriously. If you experience any of the following issues, please get in touch with us immediately:

Foreign body in the eye
Painful or red eyes
Flashes of light
Floaters in your field of vision
Sudden loss of vision
Chemical splashes
Sudden onset of double vision

The Do’s & Don’ts For Managing Eye Emergencies

Large Foreign Bodies

DO NOT rub the eye
DO NOT apply pressure
DO NOT attempt to remove the object
DO move your eye as little as possible
DO seek help immediately

Small Foreign Bodies

DO NOT rub the eye
DO NOT apply pressure
DO NOT use tweezers or cotton swabs
DO try blinking to see if it clears the object
DO flush your eye with water

Chemical Splashes

DO remove contact lenses
DO flush your eyes with cool water immediately
DO get medical attention immediately

Cuts & Scratches

DO NOT apply pressure to the eye
DO cover with a loose bandage while awaiting treatment

							I brought my 5 year old in for his first eye exam today and I honestly can’t say enough great things about the experience. From the moment we walked in the staff was very welcoming to both myself and my son. As we prepared to sit and wait to be called back (which turned out to be less than a minute) the staff brought out crayons and stickers for my son. The nurse who helped with the exam used kid friendly explanations of what was going to happen when she used each machine. The doctor was wonderful and used kid friendly techniques to complete the exam. My son left saying “I like going to the eye doctor!” I 100% recommend Bixby Eye Center especially for childhood exams.
